Business in the new world economy - creating a vision for the future
You are warmly invited to hear Peter Brew who will give a TIGE Talk (Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy) on Business in the new world economy - creating a vision for the future on Tuesday 4 February 2014 at 6.30pm for 7.00pm.
Peter Brew worked with the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) from 1999 to 2011. Between 2002 and 2007 he led the IBLF team working on issues of local enterprise development, business and human rights, governance, anti-corruption and conflict. He led IBLF’s in-country initiatives with partner organizations in China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. In October 2008 he relocated to Hong Kong to set up IBLF’s Asia Pacific regional office. Peter also contributed to IBLF’s initiatives in Russia and Eastern Europe and designed and delivered, for five years, a module for an MBA course in Croatia. He is co- author of The Business of Enterprise, and The Human Rights Impact Assessment and Management Guide. He has contributed to a number of publications on human rights and anti- corruption in business. He retired on 31 May 2011. Before joining IBLF Peter served for 37 years in the international retirement and healthcare services business field, retiring in 1998 as Deputy Chairman of Sedgwick Noble Lowndes where he was responsible for business operations in North and South America, Australasia and Asia Pacific. He had previously been its Chief Executive in Ireland and then in North America.
Peter will review the new world economic landscape and re-assess the role of business in society. He will encourage a commitment to four pillars of sustainability—economic, environmental, human and ethical—promoting cross-sector partnerships underpinned with a strong moral compass. His talk will be followed by Q&A. His talk is the first in a series on issues of global sustainability to be given in four European countries prior to the annual Caux TIGE conference in Caux, Switzerland, in July 2014.
Refreshments from 6.30pm; main talk at 7.00pm; ending 8.45pm.
